On August 27th, according to government and industry sources, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport selected SierraBASE's "autonomous drone system using digital twin technology and AI algorithm for concrete structure exterior inspection" as the first of 12 new smart construction technologies introduced in the first half of 2024. Developed by SierraBASE, led by CEO Song-Hyun Kim, this technology has now entered the market after years of research and development.
The SIRIUS technology is a rotating LiDAR-based robotic autonomous operation module that, when attached to a drone, allows for the inspection and monitoring of facilities and buildings within a fully realized 3D digital twin environment. This technology enables remote control and Level 4 autonomous driving, meaning that once a digital twin environment is created, facility inspections can be conducted autonomously from an office.
Compared to traditional drone inspection methods, SIRIUS offers significantly higher accuracy due to its self-generated digital twin maps. It can reduce inspection time by 80% and cut down
